Welcome to Joyce Rice, Symbolia’s Creative Director

Symbolia is growing! I’m pleased to announce that Joyce Rice has joined Symbolia as Creative Director.

Joyce, pictured above, is an active voice in Chicago’s independent comics scene and has done extraordinary work to merge illustration and interactive storytelling, both on the web and on tablet devices. As Symbolia’s Creative Director, she will work with contributors to craft each issue’s look and feel, develop interactive content, and define new ways of storytelling.

Joyce is the proprietor of Teeny Robots, a design company specializing in creative solutions, including editorial illustration, concept illustration/character development, motion graphics, storyboarding, and graphic facilitation. She has a unique visual sensibility and a strong understanding of graphic narratives, qualities that will make her an incredible asset to Symbolia.
